119. How do you call your lover boy?

I watched Dirty Dancing with Shah for the first time today, and I can simply say I really like it.
I never thought I would, to be honest. I thought it would have like a Grease feeling, but no, it's a mixture of a well written John Hughes movie, crossing over with a Kenny Ortega movie, spiced up with a hint of erotica, and the combination is fabulous. I mean, the choreography is no joke, one of the best flexes I've ever seen, the chemistry between Johnny and Penny when they dance together is so enticing, I actually rooted for them, rather than Johnny and Baby, but the plot wasn't bad. I didn't mind the ending at all.

One of the subplots that surprised me, was that Johnny and Penny being platonic close childhood friends. You just don't see that in romantic movies, a love triangle is kind of a must. Not having it is a r risky move, but I really liked their friendship. They're just these two life long friends from the same neighbourhood, sharing the same passion in dancing, having each others' backs. You can see how Johnny really cares about Penny, whenever she needs help he's all "It's alright, Johnny's here." and he does genuinely cares about Penny, and they didn't establish any romantic fling nor did they include any trivia of them having a history, I'm impressed.

I love the choreography in this movie. Every move they made was so...suave. All the steps were so precise, and it looked like they were dancing intuitively rather than being choreographed. Especially the time they were dirty dancing, it looked like Johnny and Penny were improvising their dance moves, because it looks so real, they were really into it, and they looked like they enjoyed every moment. They managed to make dancing more than just moving body parts, it's an expression, and they expressed their passion and emotions really well. In spite of all the dance movies that I've watched, dirty dancing actually made me feel like dancing. Do the mambo!

Can I just say, Patrick Swayze is glorious in this movie. He has the face of Kurt Russel, a built like Mark Sloan, glorious wavy hair from the 80's, and he definitely has the moves like Jagger.

Overall it's a really feel-good movie. There's no love triangle, there's no douchebags in the main plot, there's no evil second female lead, no family disagreement, there are a few conflicts between the leads, but in the end Patrick Swayze heroicly and romanticly saved the day by dancing with Baby and having a flash mob of his own. #Recommend
