“I am going to take this bucket of water and pour it on the flames of hell, and then I am going to use this torch to burn down the gates of paradise so that people will not love God for want of heaven or fear of hell, but because He is God.”

Some would say that a photo is worth a thousand words, but none of those words coming from a stranger's perspective could measure up to the personal meaning depicted in the photo by the photographer herself. To you, you might see a photo of a wall, but to me, I remember the serenity of waking up in the morning and looking out of the window watching people briskly walking to classes, joking around with friends, and the simplicity that I was intrigued by these small moments made everything felt so special.

I remember having deep and meaningful conversations late night before, and I remember having lunch together later that afternoon. I remember the carpe diem split second when I just intuitively decided to sleepover at Mahallah Safiyyah bearing nothing aside from my pajamas and flip flops, and I remember going to classes, (literally) in someone else's shoes (and clothes) and it weirdly was very comfortable.

Sometimes it's even hard to get people to remember your name, but once you touch their hearts, you remain in their memory forever. Thank you K. Maryam Atikah for bringing light and brightening our days, and genuinely being a great naqibah to us all.
